sursumcorda.com today announced plans to open art space in former “Foxfire Lounge” location.

MINNEAPOLIS, February 21, 2001.  From Web site to building site.  sursumcorda announced early this morning that they have signed the lease for 319 First Avenue North (formerly the Foxfire Lounge) and, in April 2001, will open a space devoted to the cutting-edge experimental art and music that has made their Web site a favorite. The multimedia space will include: a cafe with an extensive wine and beer list and a performance stage; a retail area showcasing the creative work of sursumcorda's artists and musicians as well as antiques and collectibles; and a coffee lounge. Cyber-stations will be scattered throughout the space and live web-casts and other works in progress will add to the activity.  Partner Dave Wesley reports, “sursumcorda the physical space will be as experimental as sursumcorda the Web site.  There will always be something being created, something coming to life, whether it’s a live band on our stage, or a radio show we’re broadcasting from the coffee lounge.  It will be a place to combine what’s best about both old and new approaches to art and music—to foster the energizing intersection of art, music, technology and community.”

A history of success. The three partners are no strangers to adventurous undertakings, and certainly no strangers to success.  Software entrepreneur and recording artist Dave Wesley founded sursumcorda.com in 1998.  Loaded with fresh creative content, the site has avoided the struggles of many commerce-based sites, and enjoys a loyal following. Wesley also co-hosts the popular “21” variety show at the Bryant Lake Bowl, recently hailed as “one of the coolest ideas to hatch in our Twin Towns in quite some time” by Pulse.  Steven Fluegel spent five years with Microsoft Corporation, where he developed software until leaving in 1996 to found the successful Fluegel Consulting Services, Inc.  Jo Gordon, whose restaurant management experience has contributed to the success of several local hot spots, has worked in the technology field for the past three years.

About sursumcorda.com. Based in Minneapolis, sursumcorda.com is an independently owned, multimedia Web site dedicated to the growth and promotion of experimental art both on and off the Internet.  Additional information may be found at the sursumcorda.com Web site, or by contacting Dave Wesley.
