Grand Opening.
MINNEAPOLIS,
April 24, 2001. Grand Opening events commence May 6. sursumcorda
announced this morning that their cutting-edge experimental art and
music venue will open May 6. The
space will host a wide variety of artistic offerings throughout the
week, including film and video screenings, music performances, spoken
word, the “21” underground variety show (relocating from Bryant Lake
Bowl), and a number of surprise cameos.
The space (located at 319 first avenue north, formerly occupied
by the Foxfire Lounge) has undergone massive remodeling, and now has a
William Gibson inspired 21st century look complete with
cybercafe and performance lounge and a retail space in front.
With a wine list of over 30 wines, an extensive specialty beer
selection and unique culinary offerings, the partners have created a
multi-sensory as well as multi-media experience.
Partner Dave Wesley comments, "by
creating a physical manifestation of the sursumcorda.com website, we can
now offer the community and independent artists a place to showcase
their work, explore new technology, and, most importantly, to interact
using all of their senses."
A
history of success. The
three partners are no strangers to adventurous undertakings, and
certainly no strangers to success.
Software entrepreneur and recording artist Dave Wesley founded sursumcorda.com
in 1998. Loaded with fresh
creative content, the site has avoided the struggles of many
commerce-based sites, and enjoys a loyal following.
Wesley also co-hosts the popular “21” variety show at the
Bryant Lake Bowl, recently hailed as “one of the coolest ideas to
hatch in our Twin Towns in quite some time” by Pulse.
Steven Fluegel spent five years with Microsoft Corporation, where
he developed software until leaving in 1996 to found the successful
Fluegel Consulting Services, Inc. Jo
Gordon, whose restaurant management experience has contributed to the
success of several local hot spots, has worked in the technology field
for the past three years.
